💸 How much does it cost to train at FLY2999?

We offer transparent pricing with no hidden fees:

  • Discovery Flight: $99

  • Flight Review: $199

  • Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC): $299

  • Accelerated IFR Course: $2,999

  • Full IFR Course (40 hrs): $6,999

  • Accelerated Multi-Engine Course: $2,999

All courses include instructor time and aircraft rental.

✈️ What aircraft do you use for training?

We use a PA-28 Cherokee for single-engine training and a PA-23 (Piper Apache) for multi-engine training. 

👨‍✈️ Who is the instructor?

All instruction is provided by Yucai Bao, the founder of FLY2999. He brings years of real-world flying experience and a focus on practical, efficient training designed to help students build real skill and confidence.

🛫 Can I bring someone with me on a Discovery Flight?

Yes! You may bring a friend or family member to ride along during your Discovery Flight. For safety and proper weight & balance, the total weight of all passengers (excluding the instructor) must be under 350 lbs.

🧭 What are the requirements for IFR training?

For the Accelerated IFR Course, students must have:

  • Passed the FAA Instrument Written Exam with a score of 80 or higher

  • At least 50 hours of cross-country PIC time

  • At least 25 hours of simulated instrument time

 

📆 How does scheduling work?

Scheduling is flexible. You can book training based on your availability. Accelerated courses are best scheduled in 3–5 day blocks, while reviews and IPCs can usually be arranged with shorter notice.

⏱️ How long does the Accelerated IFR course take?

Most students complete the 15-hour Accelerated IFR Course in 3–4 days, depending on weather and availability. The program is designed for focused, immersive training with multiple flights per day.

🧾 Will I receive logbook entries or endorsements?

Yes. All training is properly documented and endorsed according to FAA regulations, whether it's a Discovery Flight, Flight Review, IPC, or full course completion.

📍 Where is FLY2999 located?

We are based in Augusta, Kansas, a centrally located and accessible area for students across the Midwest and beyond.

🧑‍⚖️ Do you have an in-house DPE for checkrides?

No, we do not have an in-house Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE).
It is the student's responsibility to contact and schedule a DPE for their checkride. However, we’re happy to provide recommendations and help you connect with local examiners based on availability and aircraft compatibility.

✈️ Is there a plane available for lease or solo rental?

Currently, no. All aircraft are used exclusively for training with an instructor. However, a solo rental option is in development and will be available in the near future.
